The Mexican Methodist Chuch ,known as the Powder Box Church of Jerome, was built by Sabino Gonzalez in 1939 and completed in 1941.The chuch was built for the Mexican-American miners and their families who experienced racial prejudice at the hands of the Anglo Methodists who refused to allow Mexicans into their church.Gonzalez built his church with disassembled wooden blasting boxes.
It is now the private residence of famed interior designer Anne Gale,an iconic figure in the Southwest.
Anne hosted an open house for all those friends over the years who have yearned to visit this wonderful gem of a structure. From the fabulous welcoming banners,to the Spainish colonial and French antiques.the atmosphere was magical.
Anne is quite a hostess, who uses her signature chinese urns spilling with bouquets of flowers, large platters of food and wonderful mix of guests to create the perfect get together. What an afternoon.
